PLOT:
Local farmer Jacques Griselle is found dead in the woods outside the fences of the US Air Force base in Winthrop, MB, Canada, he with an expression of horror even in death. Although not required to do so from purely jurisdictional terms, US Air Force Major Jeff Cummings feels compelled to investigate the death due to circumstances, including the locals' suspicions about the secretive nature of the atomic work being done on the base related to long range flights and radar, he wanting to reassure the locals that the atomic work had nothing to do with the death. One person who visits the base to speak to Jeff is the victim's sister, Barbara Griselle, especially as she knows what her brother was doing so close to the base related to the effects of that atomic work on the locals. The nature of Jeff's investigation changes when more locals are found dead for unknown reasons, albeit the nature of the unexplained deaths become more and more grisly in what happens to the victims. Jeff begins to believe that Barbara, for who he is falling, may have some other connection to what is happening, namely her work for retired British scientist R.E. Walgate. If Jeff's assumptions are correct, he, Barbara and others involved may have a battle for their lives unless the cause of what is happening can be neutralized.
